Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan under fire for cryptic post

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Following India’s 3-2 loss to the West Indies in the five-match T20I series in Florida, former Indian cricketer and prominent commentator Irfan Pathan earned the fury of Pakistan fans with a cryptic post on Monday.

Pathan took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and wrote: “Begaani Shadi mein Abdulla deewana… [To exaggerate about something unimportant to you]”.

Many saw this as an oblique jab at Pakistan.

It should be remembered that Pakistan will face India in the forthcoming Asia Cup, which will be held on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

However, soon after Pathan’s post was published on the microblogging service, Pakistan cricket fans reacted angrily.

  1. Nothing but a troll on Twitter

“It’s just sad how one of the top bowlers, Irfan Pathan, will be remembered as an Indian troll just because of this #IndoPak hatred that he ignites every now and then on Twitter (X),” one user said.

“It’s tragic to see him ruin his own legacy in order to be relevant.”

2. ‘Irfan Pathan on Sundays’

  1. What about Karma?

One Twitter user attempted to revive Pathan’s recollection of how he mocked Pakistan after they lost the Asia Cup final.

“If you can’t take trolls, don’t troll others,” a frustrated user wrote.

  1. Tit for tat, right?

“This is good!” one cricket fan exclaimed. You first annoy someone, then you cry when they respond.”

  1. What bravado!

“Lost from [an] unqualified team and still have the audacity to tweet this,” one enraged user said. “Where has the grace gone?”

  1. Be kind to your neighbour

Another X-user advised Pathan, saying, “Bro, keep it between India and the West Indies.” Don’t try to draw #Padosi into your mess for the sake of gaining clout. I feel for you at times because of the things you have to do to be validated in Modi’s India. “Happy Fourth of July, mate.”

  1. Go back in time!

Another user chose to stick to the facts, reminding Pathan that Pakistan reached the Asia Cup finals last year. [mic drop]

A youthful Indian team that was missing several of its key players fought back from a 2-0 deficit in the five-match series, but fell to an eight-wicket defeat at Lauderhill on Sunday, with opener Brandon King helping West Indies chase down the victory mark with 85 not out.

Suryakumar Yadav scored 61 off 45 balls but received no help from the middle and lower order as India finished with a total of 165-9 in 20 overs.

The West Indies scored 171-2 in 18 overs, with Nicholas Pooran (47) assisting King.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
