At that time, he will preside over a conference on “Women in Islam” (CSW).

The one-day summit will be held at the UN on March 8, the day after the foreign minister arrives, and is being hosted by Pakistan in its position as the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) chair.

On March 7, FM Bilawal is also scheduled to take part in a high-level UN Security Council discussion on “Women, Peace, and Security,” which is being sponsored by Mozambique as the council’s president for the month of March.

The conference, which Pakistan organised, has as its stated goal closing the perception-reality gap about the rights of women in Islam and celebrating the accomplishments and experiences of notable Muslim women. It aims to organise a yearly policy dialogue to address issues and look into ways to promote the status of women in OIC nations.

The conference “Women in Islam: Exploring the Rights and Identity of Women in the Islamic World” will begin with an address from FM Bilawal.

The 67th CSW chairperson, South African Ambassador Mathu Joyini, the President of the UN General Assembly Csaba Korosi, OIC Secretary-General Hissein Braham Taha, and delegates from OIC member states will follow him.

Participants at the summit will also include nations outside the OIC and representatives from UN organisations.

Later, the president of the General Assembly and the foreign minister will jointly convene a special high-level event to honour the day on March 10 in support of the historic UNGA resolution 76/254 declaring March 15 as the international day to combat Islamophobia.

FM Bilawal will also meet with the president of the General Assembly and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres while in town.

On the results of these events, he will also brief the UN and the international press.
