This marks the first solar eclipse of the year, with the second set to occur between September 21 and 22. Like today’s eclipse, the upcoming one will also be partial. A solar eclipse happens when the Moon moves between the Earth and the Sun, partially or completely blocking sunlight.
Experts have advised skywatchers to take safety precautions while viewing the eclipse. Looking directly at the Sun without protection can cause severe eye damage. To observe the event safely, specially designed solar viewing glasses should be used.
