[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]According to local media, Fouzia Younis, a British diplomat of Pakistani descent, has become the first British Muslim woman to be appointed as the head of a UK diplomatic post.
After working as the communications director at the British High Commission in Islamabad, she has been named British Consul General to Toronto, Canada.
Younis has extensive experience managing, coaching, and developing multicultural and diverse teams, as well as forming international partnerships in the Middle East and South Asia.
Until March 2020, she served as co-chair of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s (FCO) Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic Network (BAME), overseeing a global network of over 250 people.
Younis thanked her father, who would drop her off at the coach station at 4 a.m. for job interviews, and her late mother, who encouraged her desire to further her education and would accompany her home through dark streets, on Twitter.

Younis expressed gratitude for her mother’s support for girls’ education and advised girls not to let anyone limit their potential. Her mother raised four successful children and inspired Fouzia to overcome obstacles and reach new heights.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
