Police have filed a case against Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Saad Hussain Rizvi, his brother Anas Rizvi, and several party leaders under the Anti-Terrorism Act and other sections of law at Muridke City Police Station in Sheikhupura.
According to the FIR, Saad Rizvi, while on stage, allegedly picked up a pistol and opened fire on the Factory Area SHO, critically injuring him. The officer later succumbed to his wounds. The report adds that Anas Rizvi also fired, injuring multiple policemen. Section 302 (murder) has been included in the case, as reported by BBC Urdu.
Police said that around 3,000 to 3,500 TLP workers gathered along GT Road near Zafar Arcade, many armed with sticks, stones, petrol bombs, and firearms.
The TLP has not yet issued an official response. Earlier, police launched an operation against the protesters in Muridke, which left one SHO and three protesters dead, along with 48 injured officers. Several vehicles were also torched during the violent clashes that lasted five hours before police cleared the area
