FIFA Vice President Praises Pakistan’s Football Potential

FIFA Vice President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa has lauded Pakistan’s growing football potential, calling the country a “sleeping giant” of Asian football. During his visit to Islamabad, he met with Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) officials, government representatives, and young players, emphasizing FIFA’s commitment to developing the sport across the nation.

Sheikh Salman highlighted Pakistan’s passion for football, saying that the country has both the talent and enthusiasm needed to rise on the international stage. He praised recent grassroots initiatives and youth programs launched by the PFF, noting that such efforts are vital for nurturing the next generation of players.

During discussions with the Sports Ministry, the FIFA vice president assured continued technical and financial support for Pakistan. He stated that infrastructure improvement, coach education, and youth training facilities would remain a priority in FIFA’s collaboration with the PFF.

The meeting also focused on the revival of domestic tournaments and the expansion of women’s football in Pakistan. Sheikh Salman expressed optimism that consistent local competitions and international exposure would help Pakistan bridge the gap with other Asian teams.

PFF officials thanked FIFA for its ongoing assistance and shared plans to strengthen football academies across the country. They also revealed that talks are underway to host regional events and international friendlies in Pakistan soon.
