FIA apprehends man for harassing a doctor

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cybercrime Circle in Islamabad has apprehended a suspect for allegedly blackmailing and harassing a female doctor by uploading her pictures on social media. The suspect extorted money from her under the guise of securing her a job at a hospital abroad.

The female doctor, while registering a complaint with the FIA Cybercrime Circle, reported that Badar Shahzad and his two accomplices extorted $1,900 from her, promising a job in a Maldivian hospital. Following the complaint, Additional Director FIA Cybercrime Wing Islamabad, Waqaruddin Syed, directed an inquiry, which was led by Additional Director Ayaz Khan.

Sub-inspector Humira Salim conducted the inquiry and, upon finding the allegations true, registered a case under the PECA Act, fraud, cheating, and aiding in crime against Babar Shahzad and Badar Shahzad, brothers from Attock, along with their accomplice Usman Rashid Malik alias Osama Bashir. Babar Shahzad has been arrested.

Officials revealed that after extorting money from the doctor, the accused trio uploaded objectionable pictures of her to WhatsApp groups, harassed her, and tarnished her reputation among her family. Raids are ongoing to arrest the main accused, Badar Shahzad, and Usman Rashid Malik.
