A disturbing incident has triggered nationwide outrage in India after a 26-year-old female candidate was allegedly gang-raped by an ambulance driver and a technician while being taken to a hospital in Bodh Gaya, Bihar.
The woman had fainted during a physical test held as part of a police recruitment drive. Despite the event being exclusively for female participants, no female staff accompanied the ambulance sent for medical aid.
Reports state she lost consciousness during the running portion of the test and was transported to a nearby hospital, where the assault allegedly took place.
Her family filed a formal complaint, criticizing the absence of female medical staff and the negligence of the event organizers. In response to public outrage, authorities quickly identified and arrested the two accused.
A senior police official confirmed the victim’s statement has been recorded and a medical examination completed to assist the investigation. Legal proceedings are ongoing.
The case has reignited concerns about women’s safety, particularly at government-organized events, with activists calling for stricter protocols and mandatory presence of female medical personnel during such activities.
