The federal government has announced the distribution of Chromebooks among talented students enrolled in public schools and colleges across the country. The initiative is part of the broader Digital Pakistan Program, which aims to integrate modern technology into the national education system and improve access to digital learning resources.
According to official reports, the Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen has once again requested updated data of exceptional students from all educational boards. The move follows an earlier directive issued on January 19, when boards were asked to submit student data but failed to provide complete and accurate information.
Due to these shortcomings, the IBCC issued a follow-up letter, urging all boards to resubmit the required data without delay. Officials said the information is necessary to ensure transparent and merit-based distribution of Chromebooks to deserving students across different regions and education levels.
The federal government has also instructed authorities to accelerate the implementation of the Digital Pakistan Initiative. In response, the IBCC has directed all educational boards to comply immediately with the revised instructions and complete the data submission process on priority.
Education experts believe that providing Chromebooks and tablets will significantly benefit students by giving them access to modern learning tools. They say digital devices can promote e-learning, improve research skills, and help bridge the gap between traditional classrooms and technology-driven education.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Punjab Laptop Program 2026 has entered Phase-II, with its online portal now open for applications. For the first time, students from private universities in Punjab are also eligible, making the program more inclusive and reinforcing the government’s commitment to empowering youth through digital access.
