The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has seized goods valued at Rs. 481.949 million during the first 17 days of October 2025. The operations were conducted by the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Multan, as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to curb smuggling and protect national revenue.

In one notable operation, customs officials intercepted a Mazda truck near Ghala Mandi, Multan, carrying foreign-origin goods, including cigarettes and betel nuts, concealed under crushed animal bones. A follow-up raid at a nearby warehouse recovered additional contraband worth Rs. 14.890 million.

Another seizure occurred at JCP Sakhi Sarwar, where a Hino truck transporting fresh apples was stopped. Customs officers discovered 104 imported inverters hidden under the fruit baskets, valued at Rs. 13.200 million.

In a separate routine check at JCP Trimman, officials recovered a smuggled Kawasaki Ninja heavy bike from a passenger bus traveling from D.I. Khan to Karachi. The vehicle was valued at Rs. 2.200 million.

The FBR emphasized that these operations reflect the vigilance and professionalism of Pakistan Customs. Officials stated that the Multan enforcement team remains committed to combating smuggling, preventing tax evasion, and safeguarding government revenue.

Industry observers noted that such seizures are critical for maintaining the integrity of the market and discouraging illegal trade. The FBR’s actions also aim to ensure that legal businesses operate on a level playing field without the disadvantage of smuggled goods flooding the market.

The department has urged all transporters and businesses to comply with customs regulations to avoid legal penalties. The FBR reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening enforcement measures and maintaining robust monitoring to curb illicit trade.
