The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has imposed a 40% regulatory duty on the import of used and old vehicles under the Import Policy Order 2022.
This duty applies to vehicles listed under PCT headings 8702, 8703, 8704, and 8711, covering commercial imports of second-hand vehicles.
FBR stated that the measure is aimed at curbing the rising influx of used cars, preserving foreign reserves, and protecting the local auto industry.
The decision, made under Section 18(3) of the Customs Act 1969, is also intended to maintain a balanced trade environment and strengthen Pakistan’s economy.
