FBR Implements 10% Withholding Tax on Marriage Hall Reservations

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has recently imposed a 10% withholding tax on wedding hall bookings in Karachi, extending its reach to include wedding ceremonies as well. This decision, made during a meeting between FBR officials and wedding hall owners, requires event organizers to pay the additional tax alongside the hall rental fees.

Rana Raees, president of the Wedding Hall Association, explained that the 10% withholding tax will be collected from the party hosting the event. He clarified that wedding hall owners are not directly responsible for the tax, as it is being implemented under FBR’s directives.

“This 10% withholding tax will be added to the cost of booking the wedding hall, further increasing the financial burden on those organizing these ceremonies,” said Rana Raees.

The decision has raised concerns among Karachi residents, as this additional tax adds to the already high expenses associated with wedding events.
