On late Monday, the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) announced an extension for the submission of tax returns.
The new deadline for filing income tax returns for the 2024-25 year has been extended by 14 days for individuals, associations of persons, businesses, and companies. This decision follows the tax authority’s previous statement ruling out any extensions beyond the September 30 deadline.
Initially, the FBR had stated that there would be no extensions for submitting income tax returns for the fiscal year 2024. However, taxpayers were urged to file promptly to avoid penalties. There had been suggestions of a possible one-month extension due to system overload hindering citizens from completing their filings. To date, over 3.5 million individuals have submitted their income tax returns, with the FBR emphasizing the September 30 deadline for submissions.
