Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman has called for the immediate resignation of the government and demanded fresh snap elections, claiming that the current administration does not represent the people’s mandate. Speaking to the media on Tuesday after attending a dinner hosted by former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, Rehman alleged electoral malpractice in the recent general elections. He accused the February 8 elections of being rigged and stated, “This is not the mandate of the people,” asserting that a “government of choice” had been installed in the country.

Rehman also demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) step down if it truly holds independence. “If the ECP is autonomous and sovereign, it should resign immediately so that a new commission can be formed,” he declared.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser, who hosted the dinner, thanked political leaders for attending and expressed gratitude for their participation. He also voiced concerns about the current political situation, stating, “The current circumstances in the country are worrisome, and there must be supremacy of the constitution at this time.”
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former prime minister and convener of the Awam Pakistan Party (APP), presented a declaration following a meeting of opposition parties. The leaders discussed the nation’s political and security conditions and concluded that the current government lacked public representation. The declaration also called for the release of political prisoners and the abolition of controversial laws such as the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). Abbasi emphasized that the consultation process would continue.
