[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Pakistan’s foremost anti-corruption body, apprehended former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday in connection with a corruption case.
NAB Chairman Lt-Gen (r) Nazir Ahmed Butt issued warrants accusing the ex-minister of corruption and corrupt practices under section 9(a) of the National Accountability Ordinance 1999, prompting his immediate arrest. Chaudhry, 47, was taken into custody from Adiala Jail, where he was detained in a separate fraud case. He is scheduled to appear before the court today.

Once a close aide of Imran Khan, Chaudhry resigned from the party position amid a nationwide crackdown following the May 9 attacks. Subsequently, he announced a hiatus from politics and later disclosed his affiliation with the Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party (IPP).
Chaudhry held significant roles in Imran Khan’s government, serving as the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting and the Federal Minister for Science and Technology. He played a crucial role in both the party and the federal cabinet. His tenure as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan spanned from August 2018 to January 2023.
Joining PTI in June 2016, Chaudhry was a core committee member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. In addition to his political career, he is a legal professional, political analyst, and has worked as an anchor for various media organizations.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
