Family Arrested for Enslaving Wife in West London

A husband and his four relatives have been arrested in West London after subjecting his wife to 18 months of horrific “honour-based” abuse, treating her as a house slave. The family’s actions included torturing her, preventing her from contacting her family and friends without permission, and even forcing her to drink engine oil.

The husband, Mohammed Shuaib Arshid, 28, had brought his new wife to the UK after an arranged marriage in Pakistan. However, instead of a loving and respectful relationship, Arshid’s relatives joined him in subjecting his wife to coercive and degrading behavior.

During this period, the wife endured unimaginable suffering as she was treated as a domestic slave by her own family. The abuse she faced is a distressing example of the harmful practices associated with “honour-based” violence.
