Fakhar Zaman’s Power Hits Lahore Qalandars Into PSL X Playoffs

Lahore Qalandars sealed their place in the HBL PSL X playoffs after a commanding 26-run victory against Peshawar Zalmi at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Fakhar Zaman’s explosive 60 off 36 balls and Salman Mirza’s fiery four-wicket haul were key to Qalandars’ dominant performance.

Chasing 150 in a rain-reduced 13-over match, Peshawar Zalmi struggled from the start, losing three wickets in the Powerplay and falling further behind when captain Babar Azam was dismissed for 16. Despite resistance from Daniel Sams and Ahmed Daniyal, Zalmi were restricted to 123 runs.

The match saw heavy rain delay the start by over two hours, leading to revised playing conditions including a shortened Powerplay and adjusted bowling limits. Lahore’s top order attacked aggressively, with Mohammad Naeem and Fakhar Zaman putting on a quick 50-run partnership before wickets tumbled.

Salman Mirza’s four crucial wickets and Shaheen Shah Afridi’s two breakthroughs put relentless pressure on Zalmi’s batting lineup. Lahore’s bowlers, backed by an energetic fielding effort, ensured the opposition never settled, securing a vital win for Qalandars.
