Faiz Hameed Sentenced 14-year jail by the Pakistan Army.

Former ISI Director General Lieutenant General (Retired) Faiz Hameed has been handed a 14-year rigorous imprisonment sentence by a Field General Court Martial (FGCM), the military’s media wing, ISPR, confirmed on Wednesday.

According to ISPR, the decision followed an extensive and detailed military trial, underscoring the seriousness of the charges. However, the army has not disclosed specific information regarding the nature of the evidence or internal proceedings, keeping key aspects of the case confidential for now.

This rare and historic ruling has drawn intense national interest, marking one of the most consequential cases involving a senior retired military officer in Pakistan.

Trial and Charges

As per official details, the FGCM proceedings began on August 12, 2024, under the Pakistan Army Act, and continued for more than a year. Faiz Hameed faced four major allegations:
• participating in political activities,
• breaching the Official Secrets Act and compromising national security,
• abusing authority and misusing state resources, and
• inflicting unlawful financial losses on individuals.

After a lengthy litigation process, the court found him guilty on all charges. The sentence was formally announced on December 11, 2025.

Authorities emphasised that the trial adhered strictly to legal procedures. Faiz Hameed was provided full legal assistance and allowed to appoint the defense counsel of his choice. Officials also clarified that he still has the legal right to challenge the decision through the appropriate appellate channels.

Meanwhile, a separate high-level investigation is underway into his alleged involvement in creating political instability and working in coordination with certain political figures, as well as other related matters.

This landmark judgment has prompted nationwide debate, with political analysts closely observing its broader implications. The ruling is seen as a strong indication of the military’s stance on accountability, even at the highest echelons of command.

In related developments in the past, PTI described the action against Faiz Hameed as an internal military issue
