Senator Faisal Vawda has described the 14-year sentence given to former DG ISI Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed as “only the beginning” of a broader accountability process in Pakistan.
Speaking to SAMAA TV, Faisal Vawda emphasized that anyone involved in wrongdoing will now face consequences. He said, “No one is above the law.”
The senator highlighted that the punishment of Faiz Hameed marks a significant step for the founding PTI leadership. He added that the former ISI chief has set an example by establishing accountability within his own institution.
Vawda noted that pending cases, including those related to the May 9 incidents, are likely to intensify. “Whoever committed a crime will be punished,” he said, signaling a period of stricter enforcement against lawbreakers.
Describing the verdict as a turning point, Faisal Vawda said, “A new sun is rising for Pakistan. PTI is now becoming only a social media party.” He added that the Pakistan Army has laid the foundation for accountability regarding May 9, and further actions will follow.
Vawda also claimed that the verdict is being “appreciated internationally” and indicated that Pakistan is entering a phase where justice will prevail. He warned that big figures involved in wrongdoing will no longer be immune, saying, “Big idols will now be demolished.”
The senator cautioned that the state will not tolerate hooliganism, chaos, or attempts to undermine institutions. “The coming time will be of justice for Pakistan,” he said.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that Faiz Hameed was sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment. Proceedings under the Pakistan Army Act began on August 12, 2024, and the Field General Court Martial lasted 15 months.

Hameed faced charges including political involvement, violation of the Official Secrets Act, misuse of authority and state resources, and causing wrongful loss to individuals. The final sentence was announced on December 11, 2025.
