Winter vacations in schools across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have been extended due to the ongoing severe cold weather conditions in the region.
The AJK Education Department issued a notification on Tuesday, confirming that educational institutions will remain closed until January 4, 2025. Schools will now reopen on February 6, instead of the previously planned date of February 2.

This extension applies to both public and private schools throughout the region. The decision was made in response to the ongoing cold spell, which has made commuting to schools difficult for both students and staff.
The department cited weather conditions as the main reason for the delay, prioritizing the safety and well-being of students.
In contrast, the Sindh Education Department has announced the resumption of classes after the winter break. Educational institutions in Sindh, including both public and private schools, will reopen today, January 1, 2025, as originally scheduled.
