The European Union (EU) has announced Rs350 million (€1.05 million) in emergency aid for Pakistan’s flood victims, as devastating flash floods have claimed lives, displaced thousands, and left many missing.
In a statement on X, the EU expressed solidarity with Pakistan, pledging support through its humanitarian partners for health services, clean water, sanitation, and cash assistance to affected families. The funding, it added, is aimed at preventing disease outbreaks and providing urgent relief to vulnerable communities.
The aid will be delivered via trusted partner organisations already operating in flood-affected areas. The EU also extended condolences to the families of victims.
This announcement follows relief pledges from the Asian Development Bank ($3 million) and the United Nations ($0.6 million) for Pakistan’s recovery efforts.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke with EU High Representative Kaja Kallas, who assured the EU’s continued support. Dar thanked her, stressing Pakistan’s high climate vulnerability and the need for stronger global cooperation. Both sides agreed to deepen collaboration in climate action, resilience, and sustainable recovery.
According to Punjab’s PDMA, over 2.4 million people and 600,000 livestock have been displaced. At least 41 lives have been lost, while officials described ongoing relief as the “largest-ever rescue operation” in the province, with 390 relief camps established for victims.
