Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, met with Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to discuss strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations. During the meeting, both leaders emphasized the need to enhance cooperation across various sectors, including agriculture, education, health, information technology, and trade.
Dr. Abdula expressed Ethiopia’s eagerness to further develop its relationship with Pakistan, particularly with the province of Punjab. He also praised the Punjab government’s development initiatives and welfare strategies, noting that Ethiopia is keen to build on these mutual interests.

The two leaders agreed on fostering closer ties through shared projects and trade opportunities, and discussed the upcoming Pakistan’s Single Country Exhibition, which Ethiopia will host this year. The resumption of direct flights between Ethiopia and Pakistan was also highlighted as a significant step forward in facilitating better connectivity and engagement between the two countries.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif welcomed the development of these bilateral consultations, underscoring the vast potential for cooperation in multiple fields. Both parties expressed optimism about the future of Pakistan-Ethiopia relations.
