Erdogan Declares Upcoming March Election as His Last

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has stated that the local elections scheduled for March 31 would be his last vote, according to the state-run Anadolu news agency.

Erdogan, who has been a prominent political figure in modern Turkey for over two decades, has won more than a dozen elections since 2002. He was re-elected for a five-year term in May 2023 during hotly contested elections. Erdogan mentioned that the upcoming local elections would be his last, and he sees the results as a legacy transfer to his successors.
