Many social media users deemed the act inappropriate, arguing that such gestures should be avoided in holy sites. Addressing the controversy, YouTuber and scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza spoke about the incident on a religious TV show.
Mirza strongly condemned the act, stating that displaying intimacy in a sacred space like Masjid al-Haram was inappropriate. He emphasized that such moments between spouses should remain private and not be showcased publicly, particularly in revered religious places.
The scholar further questioned the boundaries for public displays of affection, warning that allowing such acts could lead to more overt displays in public spaces. He urged those supporting the kiss to reflect on Islamic teachings, stressing that the Quran and Sunnah emphasize modesty and the preservation of a woman’s dignity, particularly in matters of veiling.
Mirza reiterated that Islamic guidelines promote modesty and privacy, urging couples to uphold these principles, especially in sacred locations.
