Elon Musk’s social media platform X (formerly Twitter) is preparing to launch a new video conferencing feature, aiming to compete with established services like Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams.

According to TechCrunch, X employee Chris Park revealed that the company has already held its first internal conference using the new tool, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from the team.

The feature will be integrated into the X app, providing a Zoom-like experience directly within the platform. A screenshot shared by the company shows a functional version of the video conferencing tool.

This new feature will appear as a separate function on the right-hand side of the interface, labeled “Conferences.” Once activated, it will offer full video streaming capabilities similar to those found in existing video conferencing tools.

Currently, the video calling option within X is limited, displaying only a small number of participants at once. The new feature is expected to initially support up to four participants per screen, with plans to expand this limit to better compete with Zoom and other leading video chat applications.

Researcher Nima Owji mentioned that the conferencing feature might include the option for organizers to assign unique codes for each meeting, which participants would need to enter to join.

X is expected to further enhance the tool with features such as the ability to pin speakers and improved notifications when users join or leave a conference. However, there is no clear release date or deployment plan for the feature yet.

This development aligns with Elon Musk’s broader vision for X as an “everything app,” designed to address all interactive and transactional needs within a single platform. The introduction of the video conferencing feature represents a significant step toward making X a versatile tool for both social interaction and business communication.
