Eighth Arrest Warrant Issued Against Aleema Khan By ATC

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has issued the eighth non-bailable arrest warrant against Aleema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. The court took the step after Aleema Khan once again failed to appear in the ongoing case proceedings. The case is linked to allegations of incitement and involvement in protests and property damage that occurred last year.

According to court records, the ATC had previously issued several notices and warrants instructing her to attend the hearings. However, Aleema Khan did not appear, leading the court to escalate the matter. The judge expressed concern over repeated absences and clarified that the proceedings cannot continue if the accused does not appear despite multiple opportunities being given.

Aleema Khan’s legal team informed the court that she was unable to attend due to personal and logistical challenges. However, the court responded that the reasons provided were insufficient, especially given that the case has already been prolonged. With this latest order, law enforcement agencies have been directed to ensure her arrest and present her before the court at the next hearing.

This development comes during a broader phase of legal proceedings involving several PTI members and supporters. Many leaders and activists are facing cases related to protests and political demonstrations that took place during a period of unrest. The ATC has emphasized that the law applies equally to all individuals, regardless of political affiliation or public role.

A similar pattern has been observed in other high-profile legal cases across the country, where courts are focusing on ensuring attendance, compliance with legal protocols, and maintaining order in judicial proceedings. Legal analysts suggest that this reflects an increased emphasis on the enforcement of accountability in politically sensitive matters.

Aleema Khan has previously maintained that she has been unfairly targeted due to her relationship with Imran Khan. She has publicly stated that she has not committed any act of violence or incitement. However, the legal process will continue unless the court rules otherwise. A detailed clarification from her legal counsel is expected in the coming days.

Meanwhile, many political observers view this case within the broader political situation and ongoing legal actions involving PTI leadership. For instance, recent developments in Rawalpindi courts have already drawn attention, as seen when a previous arrest attempt was postponed due to procedural delays.

The next hearing is expected to take place soon, during which the court will determine whether enforcement agencies have executed the non-bailable warrant and whether Aleema Khan will be presented to face the charges.
