[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]In a high-level meeting held on Monday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declared that it is completely prepared to hold the country’s elections as planned. The commission has already purchased the necessary election supplies, including paper for printing ballots. They have also been working on creating a preliminary list of polling places.
The meeting, which was attended by the ECP secretary and other top officers of the polls supervisory body, was presided over by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja. Through a video link, all four of the ECP’s provincial members took part in the meeting.
The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) is in contact with the polls authority regarding the preparation, printing, and transportation of the electoral rolls, the ECP secretary reportedly told the participants in a statement released after the meeting.
In regards to the appointment of district returning officers (DROs), returning officers (ROs), and assistant returning officers (AROs), he stated that the ECP would shortly publish a notification. The ECP has created a database for the use of poll workers.

The secretary stated that the ECP had purchased electoral supplies, including paper for ballots, and had them kept in safe locations. Additionally, a preliminary list of polling places has been created.
The ROs will be informed and then given access to this list. After considering the ideas and concerns of the voters, the final list will be released in accordance with the legislation.
The deadline for voter registration, name changes, or deletions is July 13, 2023, under the law. The ECP has started a public awareness campaign in this regard.
To make sure that elections are held on time, the ECP works in concert with all of the province governments, the federal government, and other relevant institutions.
The meeting expressed appreciation for the current arrangements. On-time completion of the process was stressed by the participants.
The holding of local government (LG) elections in Punjab province and Quetta district was also discussed with the delegates. According to information provided to the ECP, the Balochistan government must publish a notification in accordance with an order issued by the Balochistan High Court (BHC) by December 23, 2022.
The number of towns and seats in Quetta must be specified by the ECP. After that, the election authorities will begin work on demarcating Quetta.
In order to achieve the prompt delimitation of Quetta district, the meeting instructed the ECP secretary to get in touch with the Balochistan chief secretary about this today.
The Punjabi electoral groups’ registration will be finished on July 17 according to information provided to the ECP.
The ECP will provide the calendar for the LG elections once the caretaker provincial administration has made the necessary financial and security arrangements.
