Tremors were reported in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Kasur, and nearby areas. The quake caused residents to rush out of their homes and workplaces in fear, although the tremors lasted only a few seconds and no immediate damage was reported.

Officials from the Pakistan Meteorological Department confirmed the seismic event. In response, rescue and emergency services were placed on alert as a safety measure.

Why do earthquakes occur?
Seismologists explain that earthquakes result from the sudden movement of tectonic plates beneath the Earth’s surface. Pakistan lies near the convergence of the Indian and Eurasian plates, placing it in a seismically active region vulnerable to frequent tremors.
