Dutch Scientist Predicts Big Earthquake in Five Days

A Dutch seismologist has raised concerns with a prediction of potential seismic activity in the near future, warning that a “major disaster” could occur in connection with a rare planetary alignment.

Frank Hoogebets, who is known for his controversial forecasts, advised the public to stay alert between February 13 and 15 due to what he describes as “planetary geometry.” He claims that during this period, the Earth, Moon, and Jupiter will align in a way that could trigger heightened earthquake activity.

“I urge everyone to be cautious from February 13 to 15,” Hoogebets said, adding that a major earthquake or unexpected event might take place during this timeframe.

Hoogebets has made similar predictions in the past, basing them on the positions of celestial bodies. His approach, however, is highly debated, as the link between planetary alignment and earthquakes is not scientifically established. Critics argue that his method lacks verifiable evidence and is largely speculative.

The scientific community has strongly dismissed Hoogebets’ claims. Seismology experts emphasize that no credible research supports a connection between planetary positions and earthquakes on Earth. “While certain areas are naturally more prone to seismic activity, predicting the exact timing of an earthquake remains impossible with current knowledge,” one specialist said.

Despite the skepticism, the prediction has sparked public discussion on earthquake preparedness and the challenges of forecasting such natural disasters. Authorities have not issued any new warnings in response to the claims, and official earthquake monitoring continues as usual.

Whether Hoogebets’ forecast turns out to be a timely alert or just another controversial statement remains uncertain. Regardless, the discussion highlights the importance of staying vigilant in earthquake-prone regions and maintaining readiness for potential seismic events.
