The Dumper Truck Transport Owners Association has announced it will not participate in Karachi’s animal waste cleanup during Eid ul Adha, citing ongoing violence against its workers and lack of compensation from authorities.

In a video statement, Association President Liaqat Mehsood said 20 to 25 dumper trucks were set ablaze by miscreants in recent months. Despite repeated complaints to the Karachi commissioner and other officials, no support or compensation has been offered, he claimed.

Mehsood accused the Sindh government and local bodies of neglect and injustice, adding that the transport sector is being unfairly targeted. The boycott follows a series of fatal road accidents involving dumpers and tankers, which led to angry mobs torching vehicles.

This move is expected to disrupt Karachi’s sanitation efforts during Eid, when large amounts of offal are typically generated. Authorities have not yet announced alternative waste management plans.
