Security sources said attempts by Fitna al-Khawarij militants to carry out small drone attacks in Abbottabad, Swabi, and Nowshera were successfully foiled. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed the developments on his X account. Authorities stated that Pakistan’s anti-drone systems intercepted and destroyed all incoming drones before any damage occurred, with no casualties reported.
Officials said security remains on high alert and further measures are in place to counter threats. In response to alleged cross-border firing, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq, with the Pakistan Air Force conducting strikes on military sites in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia — strikes later acknowledged by Afghan Taliban authorities.
Political leaders, including the president, prime minister, and opposition figures, expressed support for the armed forces and pledged to defend territorial integrity. The defence minister accused the Taliban of using proxy tactics to spread terrorism.
