Authorities have recovered donkey meat from a village near Kasur, continuing recent efforts to stop illegal meat trade in Pakistan. Police acted on a tip-off and raided Kotli Rai Abu Bakar village, located on Kasur’s outskirts. During the raid, they seized several maunds of donkey meat and arrested one suspect. However, three others managed to escape.
This incident follows similar operations in other regions. Just days ago, officials in Battagram district seized donkey meat in the Kuzabanda area. Two suspects from Hunza and Mansehra were arrested during that raid. The operation was led by the Additional Assistant Commissioner and a Food Inspector after receiving intelligence reports.
Earlier in the month, the Islamabad Food Authority carried out a major raid at a farmhouse in Tarnol. Nearly 1,000 kilograms of donkey meat were confiscated. Over 50 live donkeys were also found at the site, and a foreign national was taken into custody. These seizures highlight the scale of illegal donkey meat trade in the country.
Authorities warn that donkey meat is not legally approved for consumption in Pakistan. It poses serious health risks to the public. Officials are committed to stopping this illegal business and protecting food safety.
Repeated discoveries of donkey meat reveal the persistence of this unlawful trade. Police and food authorities have promised to continue their operations and take strict action against offenders.
The government encourages citizens to report any suspicious meat sales to help combat this problem. As investigations proceed in Kasur and elsewhere, authorities remain focused on safeguarding public health and enforcing food regulations.
These ongoing crackdowns underline the importance of eliminating the illegal donkey meat trade to ensure safe and lawful food practices in Pakistan.
