The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has firmly denied claims circulating on social media regarding alleged changes to the Pakistani passport front cover. Officials stated that no modifications have been made to the passport’s design or layout, calling the viral posts “baseless and misleading.”
According to a DGIP spokesperson, several photos and claims shared online suggested that the words and emblem on the passport’s front page had been altered. However, the department clarified that these images are fake and have been digitally manipulated to create confusion among the public.
“The design of the Pakistani passport remains unchanged,” the spokesperson confirmed, emphasizing that all official passports are printed under strict security protocols. The department urged citizens not to believe unverified information circulating on social media platforms.
DGIP further advised the public to verify any passport-related updates only through official government sources, such as the Ministry of Interior or the DGIP’s official website. The authority also warned that spreading false information could lead to legal action under the country’s cybercrime laws.
In recent months, social media has become a frequent source of misinformation regarding government documents and identity systems. Experts believe that such rumors often cause unnecessary panic and confusion among citizens.
The DGIP reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency and security in Pakistan’s passport issuance system, which has recently seen significant technological upgrades to improve efficiency and reduce delays.
