The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has not yet received formal instructions from the Interior Ministry to begin blocking unregistered virtual private networks (VPNs) in Pakistan. Despite the deadline having passed, PTA sources informed ProPakistani that the issue is expected to be resolved next week.
As of now, over 27,000 VPNs have been registered, and unregistered VPNs will not be immediately shut down. Registration efforts are ongoing, and stakeholders, including the IT industry and freelancers, have requested additional time to complete the registration process to ensure uninterrupted access.
