Data Breach Affects Over 180 Million Users Worldwide, Including Pakistan
Massive Data Breach Compromises Over 180 Million Users, Pakistan’s N-CERT Issues Urgent Advisory

In one of the largest global data breaches in recent history, sensitive information—including passwords—of over 180 million users from major tech giants such as Google, Facebook, and Apple has been compromised.

Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team (N-CERT) has issued an urgent advisory urging all users and institutions nationwide to take immediate security measures.

The breach also involves data from government portals and popular social media platforms including Instagram and Snapchat. The stolen information is reportedly stored in an unsecured database and is at risk of being exploited through automated cyberattacks. This puts millions at risk of identity theft, account hacking, and further cyber intrusions.

N-CERT’s advisory highlights the vulnerability of both individuals and government institutions, especially those managing financial accounts. Pakistani users are strongly advised to:

  • Change account passwords immediately
  • Enable two-step verification for enhanced security
  • Avoid sharing passwords via email or storing them in unsecured files
  • Use trusted password managers
  • Regularly update antivirus and security software

The advisory also stresses monitoring for unusual login activity and promptly reporting any suspicious behavior. Government departments and sensitive organizations are instructed to swiftly identify and notify affected users.

Failure to act promptly could threaten the national digital infrastructure’s integrity and disrupt critical services.

Cybersecurity experts warn of increased automated attacks targeting the compromised data in the coming days, urging heightened vigilance from all users.
