Dar Emphasizes Importance Of Continuity In Economic Policies

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has stressed the importance of continuity in Pakistan’s economic policies. Speaking at a dinner with the business community, Dar said the country’s economic direction should remain steady despite political changes.

Dar acknowledged the challenges Pakistan’s business sector faces due to political instability. He reflected on his long experience in public office and urged for consistent economic planning to support growth. Dar said Pakistan’s foundation is unique, built on strong principles, which should guide its economic decisions.

He congratulated the nation on Independence Day and spoke about past economic setbacks. Dar pointed out that while interest rates were lowered significantly in 2016, political interference in 2017 damaged progress. The consequences of this are still felt today.

Dar assured that Pakistan has avoided default and that the central bank is carefully adjusting policy rates. He criticized false reports causing uncertainty among business leaders. Dar said many were considering leaving Pakistan but urged them to stay focused and ignore rumors.

He also mentioned Pakistan’s improved diplomatic relations. Two years ago, Pakistan faced isolation, but today the country has gained global attention and support.

Dar criticized the policy of opening borders with Afghanistan “over a cup of tea,” which allowed the Taliban to enter. He said this move reversed gains made in the war on terror and pledged to eliminate terrorism from Pakistan.

He praised Pakistan’s clear stance against the attack on Iran, even when it risked displeasing powerful countries. Dar also spoke about Pakistan’s transparent investigation of the Pahalgam attack, which challenged India’s regional ambitions.

Dar concluded by emphasizing the vision of Quaid-e-Azam, saying Pakistan should become a fortress of Islam and live up to its founding principles.
