Kyrgyz police intervened to quell the violence after hundreds of local men targeted buildings housing foreign students, including Pakistanis. The attack reportedly stemmed from a dispute between foreign students, including Pakistanis, and Egyptian nationals on May 13.

Local media outlet 24.kg reported a “spontaneous protest against foreigners” that ended after an agreement was reached with the rioters, leading to their dispersal. The Kyrgyz health ministry reported 29 injuries, with 14 foreigners discharged after treatment.
While there were no fatalities, Pakistan’s embassy in Bishkek confirmed, it stated the situation is under control per the Kyrgyz Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif decided to send Dar and Muqam to Bishkek after closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with the ambassador in Kyrgyzstan.
The officials will depart via a special flight on Sunday morning to provide support and medical assistance to injured students. They will also address issues concerning the repatriation of Pakistani students.
Previously, Shehbaz ordered Muqam to travel to Bishkek immediately to assist Pakistani students, ensuring they receive necessary support and medical care. He emphasized the embassy’s role in providing treatment and facilitating the return of students, if desired, at the government’s expense.
Expressing concern, Shehbaz assured continuous monitoring of the situation and directed the embassy to provide assistance to Pakistani students in Bishkek.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
