Former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn recently declared Shoaib Akhtar’s yorker during the 1999 World Cup as the best in cricket history. Steyn made this assertion in response to Iceland Cricket’s query on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “99 World Cup, Shoaib Akhtar.”

Iceland Cricket supported Steyn’s claim, referencing Akhtar’s memorable delivery to Stephen Fleming in that tournament. Despite Pakistan’s loss to Australia in the final, Akhtar’s performance, with 16 wickets in 10 matches, was exceptional.

Shoaib Akhtar, known for his extraordinary pace, enjoyed a distinguished career spanning over 14 years. His career stats include 178 wickets in 46 Tests, 247 wickets in 163 ODIs, and 19 wickets in 15 T20 Internationals. His legacy, particularly for his devastating yorkers, remains significant in cricket history.
