Customs Seizes Smuggled Cigarettes Worth Rs. 33.6 Million

According to a statement made by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Sunday, godowns and stores in numerous cities have been raided, with considerable quantities seized during the last few days.

Following the increase in federal excise duty (FED) on cigarettes, there has been a huge surge in cigarette smuggling. Customs officers in various cities have identified godowns used to store smuggled cigarettes for delivery to retail outlets.

Several raids have been carried out in the last two days, and additional operations will be carried out in the coming days, according to the statement.

Huge amounts of foreign brands have been recovered. According to the FBR, the worth of cigarettes confiscated thus far is expected to be Rs. 33.6 million.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
