Customs Confiscates Unpaid-Duty Vehicles Valued At Rs81 Million

Customs Enforcement Quetta has seized 11 non-custom-paid vehicles worth Rs81 million in a major operation along the RCD Highway near Mastung. Officials said the action was part of an ongoing campaign to block smuggling routes and protect government revenue.

According to the department, the operation was launched after Customs received credible intelligence about vehicles moving without required duties and documentation. A team was quickly mobilized to intercept the suspected carriers. The raid was conducted smoothly, and the vehicles were taken into custody without resistance.

The seized vehicles included several popular models often targeted by smugglers due to high local demand. Authorities noted that such vehicles usually enter the country through informal routes and bypass legal checks, causing significant financial losses to the national exchequer.

All 11 vehicles have been impounded under the Customs Act, 1969. Legal proceedings have already begun, and the department expects further investigations to help trace the network behind the smuggling attempt. Officials emphasized that strict enforcement is essential to stop the circulation of non-custom-paid vehicles across the region.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) praised the performance of the Quetta team and reaffirmed its determination to strengthen enforcement actions. FBR highlighted that Customs plays a key role in combating smuggling, securing revenue, and ensuring fair competition in the local market. It added that continued cooperation between intelligence units and field formations has helped improve operational success in recent months.

Authorities also urged the public to avoid purchasing non-custom-paid vehicles. They warned that such vehicles can be seized at any time and buyers may face legal consequences. The department stated that public awareness and compliance are critical for controlling smuggling networks.
