Customs Seizes Hashish Valued At Rs552 Million In Hub District

Customs officials in Gadani have stopped a major narcotics smuggling attempt in Balochistan, recovering hashish worth more than Rs552 million during an operation at the Kurkhera Check Post in Hub district. The action was carried out after officers flagged a container-mounted vehicle for inspection.

According to officials, the team recovered 169 packets of hashish, weighing 188 kilograms, from the vehicle. The narcotics were carefully hidden inside two large tyres, suggesting a planned attempt to bypass security checks along the coastal route. The person accompanying the vehicle was taken into custody under the Customs Act, 1969, and further investigations are underway.

Authorities said the market value of the seized hashish is estimated at Rs552.437 million, making it one of the more significant interceptions reported in the region this year. The area around Hub and the adjoining coastline is known for being used by smugglers due to its remote terrain and multiple exit routes, prompting Customs to increase surveillance.

Officials noted that this operation is part of broader efforts to strengthen border control and reduce the movement of illegal goods. Increased monitoring, intelligence sharing, and targeted inspections have helped intercept several smuggling attempts in recent months. The latest seizure highlights the growing focus on blocking narcotics routes that operate through Balochistan’s coastline.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) appreciated the efforts of the enforcement teams and reaffirmed its resolve to continue supporting anti-smuggling operations. It stated that Customs will keep tightening enforcement measures to stop the flow of drugs, protect legitimate trade, and prevent financial losses to the national economy.
