Chief Collector of Customs, Rabab Sikandar, confirmed the development, revealing that a detailed inquiry has been ordered. This follows the release of a list featuring the names of 40 officers and officials accused of facilitating the illicit trade. According to sources, the officers are alleged to have assisted in smuggling Iranian oil from the Taftan border into Punjab.
The FBR compiled the list based on confidential sources, which suggested significant involvement of customs personnel in the smuggling operations. Rabab Sikandar stated, “We have received a list of names, and an investigation has been initiated to uncover the facts.”
In response, the Chief Collector Punjab has directed further inquiries into the matter. Orders have been issued to the Collector of Allama Iqbal International Airport and the Collector Information Lahore to lead the investigation. The Chief Collector Punjab is required to keep the FBR updated on any findings throughout the inquiry process.
A fact-finding mission has also been launched to ensure accountability and address any misconduct by the involved officers. As the investigation continues, the focus remains on uncovering the full extent of the smuggling operations and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
