Customs Stops Major Misdeclaration Attempt, Protects Rs. 167 Million Revenue (1)

Customs Enforcement Karachi has successfully blocked a major attempt at misdeclaration, preventing a revenue loss of Rs. 167 million, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reported.

Officials stated that the consignment was imported by M/s Inn Sons Corporation and cleared through M/s Pakistan Shipping and Logistics Company. It included auto parts and laptops shipped from Jebel Ali.

The importers allegedly undervalued the shipment to evade taxes. After interception, assessments valued the consignment at Rs. 193 million, showing a significantly higher quantity than declared. Customs officials confirmed this was a deliberate attempt to mislead authorities.

Following the recovery, the FBR has initiated legal action under the Customs Act 1969 against the importer and all parties involved. The investigation will identify the full network behind the attempted tax evasion.

Customs Enforcement Karachi emphasized that it will continue strict monitoring to prevent misdeclaration, smuggling, and tax evasion. Officials said these efforts are part of a broader plan to safeguard national revenue and ensure compliance with import regulations.

The FBR reiterated that all importers must accurately declare goods and follow proper procedures. Deliberate attempts to evade taxes will face legal consequences, and the Customs department will act swiftly against offenders.

This operation highlights the critical role of Customs in protecting Pakistan’s revenue and maintaining the integrity of trade systems. Officials praised the proactive efforts of Customs officers in identifying irregularities and preventing financial losses.

Customs authorities also stressed the importance of continuous vigilance at ports and shipping points. They said ongoing reforms and enhanced monitoring mechanisms will further strengthen tax enforcement and reduce revenue leakages.
