The District and Sessions Court on Saturday issued an arrest warrant for YouTuber and journalist Imran Riaz Khan in connection with a case alleging that he led a social media campaign against Judge Humayun Dilawar.
According to court officials, Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah approved the arrest warrant following a request from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). The agency sought permission to take legal action after completing a preliminary inquiry into the online campaign.
Officials said the inquiry found that Imran Riaz Khan and others allegedly initiated a digital campaign targeting Judge Humayun Dilawar. The judge has been the focus of growing social media criticism in recent months, following several high-profile rulings.
The NCCIA submitted its findings to the court, stating that sufficient evidence had been collected to proceed with the case. As a result, the court granted permission to move forward with legal action, authorizing the agency to execute the arrest warrant.
Imran Riaz Khan, known for his political commentary and large online following, has previously faced multiple legal challenges under Pakistan’s cybercrime laws. Authorities emphasized that the ongoing investigation aims to determine whether the social media activity violated any provisions of the law.
The arrest warrant has been forwarded to the relevant law enforcement departments, and officials are expected to take action in the coming days. The development marks another significant episode in the ongoing case highlighting tensions between digital media freedom and judicial accountability in Pakistan.
