Major Updates in TikToker Sana Yousaf’s Murder Case

The hearing in the murder case of TikToker Sana Yousaf continued on Thursday, with Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka recording statements from key family members.

The court first heard from Sana Yousaf’s mother, Farzana Yousaf, who became emotional while recounting the events. She stated that her son, Yawar Yousaf, was away in Chitral for summer holidays at the time of the incident. Her daughter-in-law, Latifaan Shah, was at home during the tragedy.

Sana Yousaf’s paternal aunt, Bibi Latifaan Shah, also gave her statement before the court. Both statements are part of ongoing proceedings to establish facts in the case.

The accused, Umar Hayat, appeared in court, but initially did not have his lawyer present. He informed the judge that his counsel would arrive later. When the hearing resumed, his lawyer, Chaudhry Rizwan Ilahi, reported receiving continuous threats for representing Umar Hayat.

Rizwan Ilahi said he received threatening calls and messages claiming links to Afghanistan. He added that the threats increased after filing an appeal in the High Court. He also accused the victim’s lawyers of making public statements about the case on social media.

The judge expressed strong displeasure over these public remarks and instructed Sana Yousaf’s lawyers to avoid posting videos or statements online regarding the case.

Officials from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) were summoned to the court to provide details about threats made to the defense team. The hearing was adjourned and is scheduled to continue on January 27.

Sana Yousaf’s case has drawn nationwide attention due to her social media presence. Authorities are carefully investigating all aspects, including threats and statements from both the family and the defense.
