Commerce Minister Expects Lower Petrol Prices Beginning October 1

In Karachi, the Caretaker Commerce and Industries Minister, Gohar Ejaz, expressed optimism about a petrol price decrease on October 1. He attributed the recent surges in petroleum prices to the significant depreciation of the rupee against the US dollar. Last year, the exchange rate was Rs160 per dollar, but by early September 2023, it had risen to Rs305.

During a press conference held after a meeting with business leaders, exporters, and others in Karachi, the minister, along with Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, discussed the government’s commitment to resolving the energy crisis to support businesses in the country.
