Colonel Nabeel Ahmed Rana has been elected as the new president of the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) following meetings of the Executive Committee and General Council held in Islamabad.
Former PTF president Lt Col (R) Raja Wasim Ahmed formally proposed Col Nabeel’s name during the joint session. Representatives from provincial associations, service organizations, and departments unanimously endorsed his nomination. The move reflected strong unity within the federation’s leadership.
The leadership change comes after Lt Col (R) Raja Wasim Ahmed stepped down. His departure followed a final warning issued by the Pakistan Sports Board over alleged violations of the national sports policy.
Col Nabeel currently serves as Secretary of the Army Fitness and Sports Directorate. He is widely recognized for his skills in sports administration and effective organizational management. Federation officials described his election as a “positive step” toward strengthening the Taekwondo Federation’s structure and improving discipline and planning.
After his election, Col Nabeel addressed the council and thanked members for their confidence. He pledged to lead the Taekwondo Federation with “commitment, vision, and determination.” He also emphasized the importance of lifting Pakistan taekwondo to higher levels of performance nationally and internationally.
Col Nabeel outlined key priorities for the Taekwondo Federation, including improving athlete development pathways, enhancing organizational structures, and increasing Pakistan’s presence in global competitions. Officials believe his leadership will bring renewed focus and professional management to the sport.
Members of the Taekwondo Federation expressed optimism about Col Nabeel’s presidency. They highlighted that his election would support the development of athletes and coaches, strengthen governance, and improve Pakistan’s standing in international taekwondo events.
