GUJRAT – The local administration has announced a three-day closure of all public and private colleges in Gujrat due to ongoing student protests over an alleged rape incident at a Lahore college.

The deputy commissioner issued a notification stating that all male and female colleges in the district will remain closed from October 17 to 19, citing administrative concerns amidst the protests. The notification has been circulating on social media, though its authenticity is yet to be independently verified.

The protests began in Lahore and spread to other cities following claims that a female student was raped by a security guard. However, both the girl’s family, the police, and the Punjab government have denied the incident, asserting that no such event occurred at any college in Lahore.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of fabricating the story to create chaos after their protests failed. She clarified that the alleged victim wasn’t at the college during the supposed incident and called the claims entirely false, pointing to a social media campaign aimed at misleading the public.
