Cold Wave Grips Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as Snowfall and Rain Continue

Cold weather has intensified across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, with several districts receiving rain and upper regions experiencing heavy snowfall. In some areas, snowfall reached up to 17 inches, worsening the already chilly conditions for local residents. Temperatures have been steadily dropping, making life more difficult, especially in higher altitudes.

The Meteorological Department reported that rain and snowfall are expected to persist in areas such as Upper and Lower Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Khyber, and Kurram. Most of the province remained cold and partly cloudy, with rain recorded in Chitral, Kohistan, Bajaur, Dir, and Swat. Snowfall blanketed mountainous regions, especially in Chitral and Swat.

Kalam witnessed the heaviest snowfall, recording 17 inches, while Malam Jabba saw two inches and Chitral one inch. The coldest temperatures were observed in Parachinar at -4°C, Malam Jabba at -2°C, and Kalam at -1°C. With more inclement weather on the way, authorities have urged residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe.

Meanwhile, in Punjab, the weather remains dry and sunny. The Meteorological Department predicts that over the next three days, there will be no rain, and morning temperatures will stay cool, while afternoons will be mild. Cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan will see minimum temperatures between 8°C and 11°C, with similar conditions forecast for southern Punjab.
