Cold and Dry Weather to Continue Across Pakistan, Light Snowfall in North

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast light snowfall in northern highlands while most of the country is expected to experience cold and dry conditions over the coming days. Residents are advised to prepare for chilly mornings and nights, especially in hilly and mountainous areas.

Hilly regions are likely to remain partly cloudy with very cold conditions during early mornings and late evenings. Isolated parts of Gilgit-Baltistan may see light rain and snowfall, while northern districts including Chitral and surrounding valleys could also experience brief precipitation under cloudy skies.

In the federal capital, Islamabad, dry weather is expected to persist with chilly mornings and nights. Forecasters predict gusty daytime winds that may increase the chill factor, prompting residents to stay cautious during outdoor activities.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will largely see cold and dry weather, with upper districts remaining particularly cold during morning and night hours. Similarly, Punjab is expected to experience dry conditions, while hill stations such as Murree and Galiyat will remain cold and dry. Central and southern plains may witness strong winds during the day.

In southern regions, Karachi and the wider Sindh are expected to stay mostly dry. Balochistan will also experience dry conditions, though northern districts may face colder temperatures at night and early morning. Meanwhile, Kashmir is predicted to be cold and partly cloudy with very low nighttime temperatures.

Recent readings showed the cold spell continues to grip the country. Recorded lows included −9°C in Leh, −5°C in Astore, and −3°C in Kalam. Northern areas reported lows around −2°C, while major urban centers saw cool mornings and mild afternoons. Officials caution that northern mountainous areas remain the most vulnerable to snowfall and freezing conditions in the coming days.
